Nurse Led Ear Care Service

The aim of the Blackburn with Darwen Nurse Led Ear Care Service is to provide an easily accessible and responsive service for a variety of ear problems.

Please note: this service is only available to people living in Blackburn with Darwen

The staff working in the service are highly trained and experienced in ear care and can offer you specialist assessment, treatment and advice.

Conditions treated include:

• Removal of foreign bodies
• Suction clearance
• Ear dressings
• Clearance of the mastoid cavity

How to access the service

Referrals and appointments can be made for the ear care service following a visit to your GP or other healthcare professional e.g. treatment room nurse, audiology or practice nurse/nurse practitioner.

However, you can contact the team directly if you have any of the following symptoms:

• Extremely itchy ears
• Painful ears
• Wet and runny ears
• Suspect foreign body e.g. cotton bud.
