“I wanted to do something in the community and I have found it very rewarding” - That’s the message from one of our lead governors Dave Hargreaves about what he enjoys about the role, to mark reaching half way through elections to find 14 new governors.
Nine public governors and five staff governors being sought, with the process open to those aged 16 or above. Applicants must be a member of the Trust, where membership currently stands at over 13,000 people. They do not need to be from a healthcare background.
Governors sit on a dedicated council and are considered the eyes and ears of the public, patients and staff. They are essential to help the Trust understand and respond to what patients and local residents expect from LSCft.
Applications are welcome from people of all backgrounds and experiences to ensure that the voice of LSCft’s Council of Governors – made up of 23 elected representatives and four nominated by partners - is reflective of our diverse workforce and communities across all of Lancashire and South Cumbria.
Dave currently works at BAE Systems in an engineering management role and enjoys being a dad to his young family, which he is able to fit with being a governor. Hear what he has to say about the role below.
